THE DIRTY DETAILS

2024 GRIM Challenge will take place on Sunday, December 1.
After a successful event in 2023 we will be returning to that stretch of army training ground in Aldershot that has become the home of the GRIM. The basic race concept remains the same: a cold, wet, muddy challenge run over either 8 or 4 miles. We are looking at both courses to see if we can bring in more mud and water, to make it properly GRIM.

GROUP BOOKINGS
If you are looking to book a large group please email transfer@209events.com

DOGS
DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON SITE FOR OUR EVENT
Please leave your furry friends at home.

CAR KEYS
Key tags are included in race packs and must be attached to your car keys before handing it in to the Key Drop/Baggage Area. You must have your race number in order to collect your keys once you have finished. Please do not run with your car keys.

BAGGAGE
Although we cannot guarantee the security of your bags, there will be a manned baggage area for you to leave your belongings. If you have travelled by car, it is recommended that  you leave your bags and valuables in your vehicle and utilise our Key Drop.

CHANGING
Men and Women’s changing areas will be available. You should arrive in your running clothes but we highly recommend you bring a spare change of clothes as you will get wet! We strongly advise against going home in wet clothing. Please note, there are NO SHOWERS.

WHAT TO WEAR?
CLOTHING

You will get dirty and wet! We recommend technical sports tops on your upper body and running leggings or shorts on your legs.  The materials should ideally wick away sweat and dry quickly when wet. Cotton is not good at this. Technical breathable fabrics are perfect for this event and are strongly recommended.

FOOTWEAR

Off-road running shoes would be ideal for the varied terrain but a normal road running shoe will be suitable if you do not have an off-road shoe (regular road shoes are more exposed for slipping in the mud). No Spikes please.

VOLUNTEERS
We are always looking for volunteers and marshals to help out on race day! If you have a couple of hours to spare or the whole morning, we would love to see you cheering and directing our runners around the course. If you would like to get involved on the day please email transfer@209events.com

RUNNING WITH A PHONE?
Up to you but it’ll get wet. Some people fall in the puddles, others actively dive in. It WILL get wet!

We strongly discourage the use of any headphones or other electronic equipment that acts as an impediment to hearing or concentration when competing, but it is your choice. We cannot be held responsible for accidents resulting from racing with electronic equipment.

TIMING
The event will be chip timed by our own timing team. Timing chips will be attached to the back of your race number and not around your ankle as in previous years. This will record your time from the second you cross the start to the second you cross the finish line.

Results will be available immediately after the race has finished. we will publish the results link here in the week leading up to the event.

FIRST AID
Medical support will be provided by Codeblue Medical Services. There will be medics on the course and at the finish. You should be relatively fit to run and have no known medical conditions that would place your health in danger.

Do not run if you are experiencing any cold, flu or COVID symptoms. Please seek expert medical advice if you have any health concerns prior to the race.

TOILETS
Toilets are located in the Start/Finish area.

WATER & GELS
Water, gels and HIGH5 Zero will be available on the 8 Mile course and at the finish (for both races).

RACE PHOTOS
We have photographers at the Start/Finish area and on the course. The cost of photography is part of your race entry. Race photos will be free to download in the days following the event.
